Wilson and his new family got off to a rocky start! Read about how I helped them....
"When we called Leonie, we were in a desperate situation. Our long awaited Bosnian rescue dog who we'd been told was good with cats, turned out not to be! Sadly, within days of the dogs' arrival we lost one of our cats because the stress of the dog was too much!
If there was any chance this would work we needed help, and fast. I didn't know there were behaviourists out there who specialised in cats AND dogs, so when we found Leonie we were thrilled.
From the offset Leonie was quick to respond and extremely sensitive to the emotional situation we were in, and when we contacted her, she quickly arranged a visit to help us evaluate the situation.
I didn't think it would work.
Leonie spent time getting to know the cats and dog (and us), and helped us put together a plan, the tiniest baby steps imaginable. With Leonie's' patient and understanding support we began to make progress. With regular ZOOM check-ins and sharing videos of questions and behaviours, things started to get easier until, fats forward 3 months - our cat and dog chill together in the same room!!
Our dog is calmer and responsive to commands - he's come so far. We now enjoy a harmony in the house where it used to be a battleground.
We cannot thank Leonie enough for the support she gave us, as well as our pets.
We feel confident moving forward that we have the skills to continue to work with the dog.
